We'll keep you updated every Tuesday with all the details of what we're up to.

Alternatively, you can check out our walks and events and trips pages for all the details at any time.

Who are we?

We are a bunch of (mostly) University of Sheffield students who really love walking in the Peak District and all places hilly. Anyone is welcome on our walks and we'll always do our best to accommodate you.

What do we get up to?

Weekly walks

The club runs walks most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the University semesters. The exact locations are in our weekly emails.

The walks will generally range from 6 to 13 miles and we try to have an easier and harder walk every weekend.

We always welcome new people on our walks whether you're a member or not. As always, we only ask that you turn up with sensible footwear and enough food and water to see you through the day.

Socials

Don't worry if you're too busy to come walking sometimes, you can still join us for our brilliant weekly socials.

These are every Thursday at various places around Sheffield. There's often a big turn-out so it's a great chance to meet lots of new people.

We run both alcoholic and non-alcoholic socials.

For information on these, keep an eye on our weekly email or our Walks and events page.

Trips

The club generally organises three trips a year, our 'Fresher's Trip' in October, an Easter trip, and our summer trip which takes place at the end of the academic year.

Anyone is very welcome to come on these - we generally stay in a bunk barn or similar accommodation for a couple of nights.

Previous trips in the past have been to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Snowdonia.

If you're interested in these, keep an eye on our emails or our Trips page.

Neurodivergent Student Support

At Sheffield University Walking Club, we believe in the transformative power of walking both for physical and mental well-being. As an inclusions-driven society, we are commited to creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered.

Neurodivergent individuals face unique challenges in participating in social and physical activities. Thus, we have taken deliberate steps to ensure our walking club is accessible and accommodating to everyone.

Our walks also provide a sensory-friendly environment. Where at all possible, we choose routes that minimise exposure to loud noises and crowded spaces, allowing for stress free environments (with great views).

Additionally, our walks leaders are particularly friendly and well-equipped to deal with all people, so should you have any concerns while on the walk please be encouraged to approach them.

If you have any more queries feel free to contact us, and we hope to see you on our upcoming walks :)
